About Northwood Hospital
Northwood Hospital is one of Bristol’s newest and most exciting private healthcare facilities. Opened in October 2025, our purpose-built hospital has been designed to deliver exceptional patient care within a modern, premium clinical environment.
Conveniently located close to the M32 and Bristol Parkway Station, the hospital features two state-of-the-art operating theatres, an eight-bed inpatient ward, a six-bed day case suite, and three outpatient consulting rooms.

We are seeking experienced and motivated Healthcare Professionals to join our growing perioperative team. Opportunities are available for practitioners with experience in Anaesthetics, Scrub, or Recovery, who are passionate about delivering safe, high-quality care within a modern consultant-led environment.

The Role
As a Theatre Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their surgical journey while ensuring the highest standards of safety, care, and professionalism.
Working within your specialist area, you will:
- Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care throughout the perioperative pathway.
- Support the delivery of consultant-led surgical services across a range of specialities.
- Ensure WHO safety checks and clinical governance standards are consistently maintained.
- Participate in accurate patient documentation and effective clinical handovers.
- Contribute to an exceptional patient experience by providing compassionate and reassuring care.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and fully prepared theatre environment.
- Work collaboratively with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient theatre operations.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
About You
We are looking for professionals who possess:
- Registered Nurse (RN/RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) qualification.
- Current NMC or HCPC registration.
- Proven experience within at least one of the following areas:
- Anaesthetics
- Scrub
- Recovery
- Strong understanding of perioperative standards, patient safety, and clinical best practice.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A compassionate, professional, and patient-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and participate in on-call rotas as required.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within an independent or private hospital environment.
- Competence across multiple perioperative disciplines.
- Experience across a variety of surgical specialities.
- Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification.

Job Purpose
You will provide support and assistance to a Registered Nurse by undertaking a range of assigned administrative and clinical duties, including being responsible for taking patient’s vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturations levels), performing ECGs, swabs and checking urine samples. You will ensure there is continual feedback to the Registered nurse about the patient’s condition.
You will work flexibly across the hospital, on the ward and in the out-patient team, to meet service needs.
You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care, ensuring their physical, psychological and social needs are always met and ensuring patient’s privacy and dignity.
Your key responsibilities
Administrative duties will include:-
- Greeting and assisting patients as they arrive
- Maintaining patient records, ensuring data recorded is accurate, legible (if handwritten), recorded in a timely manner, kept up to date and appropriately filed in accordance with data protection policies
- Checking clinical rooms and the outpatient environment are clean and adequately stocked
- Assisting with stock ordering, receipt of deliveries, storing appropriately and replenishing stock within area of work
- Safely dispose of clinical waste as per health and safety policies
- Handling patient and relative enquiries both face-to-face and over the phone effectively, with a focus on high quality customer care.
- Checking the readiness for use of emergency / special equipment, and ensure all equipment in use is in good working order
- Attending all required training, meetings and staff briefings as required during working hours
Clinical Duties will include:-
- Providing a chaperone service for clinicians during patient examinations and procedures, providing comfort and support
- Assisting clinicians with setting up and preparing for procedures
- Supporting a range of clinical services including ECGs, phlebotomy, general observations of vital signs
- Undertaking a variety of manual handling tasks safely and with appropriate training and risk assessments in place, including moving and handling patients safely (e.g helping patients transfer from beds to the operating theatre and back, lifting patients in theatre, helping patients if they have fallen, aiding patients with self-care including transfers from the toilet / commode back to a chair or bed), carrying or moving medical equipment, carrying food and beverages, and collecting deliveries and moving them to the correct storage facility.
- Assisting the patient by undertaking fundamental care tasks, including daily care and personal hygiene, eating and drinking, mobility needs, washing under direct or indirect supervision.
- Providing regular and timely updates to registered staff regarding the patient’s clinical condition, reporting concerns urgently to the Nurse in Charge

Job Purpose
You will be part of a small team delivering high quality and safe person-centred care across our 8 bedded in-patient unity, and our 6 bedded day case unit. You will work flexibly across the hospital to meet service and patient needs.
Your key responsibilities
- Deliver safe person-centred care, working pro-actively and on your feet
- Administer medication and treatment in line with Hospital procedure and medical guidelines for ordering, prescribing and administration of medicines
- Undertake telephone follow up of day case patients and those discharged
- Administrative duties including inputting and maintaining accurate patient records, and using training systems
- Report near misses and untoward incidents, complaints, clinical emergencies, injury or medicine administration errors as detailed in the departmental protocols. Assist lead staff in investigating incidents as required.
